Η λαμπερή τελετή των 75^ων Χρυσών Σφαιρών πραγματοποιήθηκε την Κυριακή στο Beverly Hilton, με παρουσιαστή τον κωμικό Seth Meyers. Οι μεγάλοι νικητές της βραδιάς από τον χώρο του κινηματογράφου ήταν το «Οι τρεις πινακίδες έξω από το Έμπινγκ, στο Μιζούρι» και το «Lady Bird», ενώ από τις τηλεοπτικές παραγωγές ξεχώρισε το «Big Little Lies» και το «The Handmaid’s Tale».

Η Oprah Winfrey τιμήθηκε με το βραβείο Cecil B. DeMille.

Tο βραβείο Cecil B. DeMille φέτος πήγε στην θρυλική τηλεπαρουσιάστρια Oprah Winfrey για την πολυετή προσφορά και καριέρα της. Πρόκειται για την πρώτη φορά που το βραβείο απονέμεται σε Αφροαμερικανίδα ηθοποιό. Στον λόγο της, η συγκινημένη Winfrey μίλησε για την Οσκαρική ερμηνεία του Sidney Poitier στην ταινία «Λευκοί άγγελοι, μαύροι άγγελοι» του 1963, ενώ τόνισε πως ήρθε η ώρα για αλλαγή, αναφερόμενη στην κουλτούρα κακοποίησης και εκμετάλλευσης.
