Οι παραγωγές του Netflix ξεπέρασαν για πρώτη φορά το HBO στο σύνολο των υποψηφιοτήτων για τα «Όσκαρ» της μικρής οθόνης.

Λόγω της απόστασης μεταξύ των προηγούμενων σεζόν, το «Game Of Thrones» ήταν ο μεγάλος απών από τα περσινά βραβεία Emmy. Φέτος όμως η επική σειρά φαντασίας του HBO επιβεβαιώνει για άλλη μια φορά το στάτους της ως πιο δημοφιλής τηλεοπτική παραγωγή με 22 υποψηφιότητες.

Το HBO έχει άλλον ένα λόγο να χαμογελά φέτος, αφού ο δεύτερος κύκλος της τηλεοπτικής μεταφοράς του «Westworld» είναι υποψήφιος για 21 βραβεία. Παρά όμως το τεράστιο ενδιαφέρον για τις δυο σειρές του HBO, το Netflix αναμένεται να είναι ο κυρίαρχος της βραδιάς, αφού οι παραγωγές του είναι υποψήφιες για 122 βραβεία, σε αντίθεση με τα 108 του HBO. Έτσι λοιπόν για πρώτη φορά μετά από 18 χρόνια το HBO δεν έχει τις περισσότερες υποψηφιότητες.

Αξιοσημείωτες είναι οι περιπτώσεις της Sandra Oh, η οποία είναι η πρώτη ηθοποιός ασιατικής καταγωγής που είναι υποψήφια για το βραβείο καλύτερου γυναικείου πρωταγωνιστικού ρόλου σε δραματική σειρά για την ερμηνεία της στο «Killing Eve». Η 70ή τελετή απονομής των βραβείων θα πραγματοποιηθεί στις 17 Σεπτεμβρίου, με παρουσιαστές τους Michael Che και Colin Jost του «Saturday Night Live».
