Η τελετή απονομής των φετινών «τηλεοπτικών Όσκαρ» έχει προγραμματιστεί για τις 20 Σεπτεμβρίου με παρουσιαστή τον Jimmy Kimmel.

Οι υποψηφιότητες των βραβείων Emmys για το 2020 ανακοινώθηκαν μέσω διαδικτύου από τους Laverne Cox, Josh Gad και Tatiana Maslany, με τα «Succession» και «Watchmen» του HBO, καθώς και τα «Unbelievable» και «The Crown» του Netflix, να ξεχωρίζουν.

Η σατιρική τηλεοπτική σειρά «Succession» που συνδυάζει στοιχεία τρόμου και κωμωδίας είναι το μεγάλο φαβορί στα φετινά Emmy με δέκα υποψηφιότητες, συμπεριλαμβανομένης του βραβείο για την καλύτερη δραματική σειρά, αλλά και για τις ερμηνείες των Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong και Kieran Culkin.

Αντίστοιχα το τηλεοπτικό σίκουελ στο εμβληματικό graphic novel «Watchmen» έχει επτά υποψηφιότητες και την Regina King να θεωρείται ένα από τα μεγάλα φαβορί για το βραβείο καλύτερης ηθοποιού σε τηλεταινία ή μίνι σειρά.

Υποψήφιες για βραβεία είναι επίσης οι σειρές «Better Call Saul», «Ozark», «The Marvelous Mrs Maisel», «Pose», «Hollywood», «Killing Eve», αλλά και το «The Mandalorian» του Disney+.

Όπως κάθε χρονιά, υπήρξαν και ορισμένες εκπλήξεις στις υποψηφιότητες, με την απουσία της Reese Witherspoon να είναι ηχηρή, παρά τις ερμηνείες της στο «The Morning Show» του Apple TV+ και την δραματική σειρά «Little Fires Everywhere» του Hulu.

Η τελετή απονομής των Emmys έχει προγραμματιστεί για τις 20 Σεπτεμβρίου με τον Jimmy Kimmel να έχει αναλάβει χρέη παρουσιαστή. Δεν έχει αποφασιστεί ακόμα εάν η τελετή θα γίνει παραδοσιακά ή μέσω livestream λόγω της πανδημίας του κορωνοϊού. Σύμφωνα με ανακοίνωση του ABC τον Ιούνιο, η απόφαση για το φορμάτ της τελετής θα παρθεί «την τελευταία δυνατή στιγμή».
